Type 24A Modified Lamppost. Location: East side, adjacent to 152 Mercer St. between West Houston St. & Prince St. in Manhattan. Photo on the left: 1978 and most of its filigree on the curved crook and capital are missing. In the 1950's, the original luminaire was replaced by a Westinghouse AK-10 (3438-2), incandescent, also known as the cuplight. Photo on the right: 1994 and the Westinghouse AK-10 luminaire was replaced by a reproduction tear drop sodium vapor luminaire and a photocell was added on top of the curved crook along with black paint job.
In 1984, the Westinghouse AK-10 luminaire was replaced by sodium vapor luminaire, also known as the bucket.
